Zhongshan District is a county-level administrative area under municipal government control, founded in 1988; it is the center of Liupanshui City for politics, economy, culture and information. It has a total area of 468km². At end of 2014. Its resident population was 600,800; its GDP was RMB 34,366 million Yuan,increasing 15.9%; its fixed asset investment was RMB 32,400 million Yuan, increasing 26.4%. As the core area of Liupanshui, “the cool City of China”, Zhongshan is a energetic town, where tradition is harmonious with modern times, and green mountains are harmonious with brilliant people; it is a town of fashion, a town of culture and a town of charm, fully representing the industrial civilization.
Zhongshan District is the living room of the Liupanshui City, “the House Ridge of Guizhou, and the Cool City of China”, also “the fist stop ” where Liupanshui City becomes popular all over the word. It is the core hinterland of Liupanshui City in the west part of Guizhou, the class model of resource-type cities for “industrialization of ecological resources and ecological maintenance of industrial resources ”, and also a beautiful picture showing“the strategic hinterland area”cities in the west transforming to modern distinctive cities.
Zhongshan District is about 300-500km away from each of the five capital cities, Kunming Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang and Nanning. It is in fact located at the throat where the southwest China area extends to sea. Four major railways, Guikun, Shuibai, Zhuliu, and Neikun, runs through the district and crosses each other. Along with the construction of Hangrui Expressway, Xidu Expressway, Liu’an Intercity Railway and Yuezhao Airport, Zhongshan District has become a convenient continental-bridge from provinces/regions in west China to Southeast Asia
