In 2009, Liupanshui was listed as a city of "Pilot Projects on Circular Economy" in rich resource region. Under the principles of low consumption, low emission, and high efficiency, the city started to implement circular economy by developing circular chains in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors of industry.
