Taxus chinensis is a first-grade state protection flora, within the framework of Appendix 11 of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and a natural and endangered anticancer plant recognized worldwide. In June 2013, the China Wildlife Conservation Association awarded the title of "China's Home of Taxus Chinensis" to Liupanshui.
